31.12.13

Happy Holidays everyone, and I hope the New Year is a bright one for you all! This week we will be showcasing "Predestination", an indie 4X space strategy game from Brain and Nerd game studio.

The turn-based sci-fi 4X game revives and improves on the gameplay of classic strategy games. It blends classic turn-based galaxy management and fleet combat with modern 3D graphics and new game mechanics that 4X fans have been waiting for, such as:

- An intuitive 3D galaxy map that really works. No star lanes restricting ship movement!
- Real planetary exploration on procedurally generated planets.
- Terraforming and climate management.
- Tactical fleet combat with custom-designed ships.
- Free map designer and modding tools.

Below is a list of the most important features that will be in the ship designer. All of these features are already in development.
  • Simple drag and drop interface: Design your ship by snapping together predesigned ship parts.
  • Freeform system: No more join points! Attach ship parts to anywhere on the base hull or any attached parts with pixel-perfect accuracy. You will have 100% creative freedom with your designs.
  • Customisability tools: Rotate and rescale ship part models for a diverse aesthetic and complete creative control.
  • Visible weaponry and modules: Attach weapons, shields, engines, plating and special ship modules directly to your hull.  This isn't just a visual editor, it's also a ship design mechanic similar to MOO II.
  • Save and load: Save your designs and reload them in a later game.
  • Various ship classes: Diversify your fleet by designing small fighters and frigates, or creating larger cruisers, battleships, titans or deathstars.
With more features to come with development, a video posted below shows some of the features in the works, and the ones that are already in development as stated above.

Predestination really seems to focus on beautiful graphic, user friendly game play, and the ability to enjoy som good space advatures. I'm a huge fan of this genre of games so I am diffinately interested in see more of what the team will bring to the table, and how the final game will play and feel.
